Music production / Mastering

The last pass.

Level, tone, and a sequence that holds together. One song for a single, or a set of mixes that should sound like the same record.

A studio desk ready for a final master.

What mastering covers

  • A listen to the finished mix, with notes if the mix still needs a fix before it is mastered.
  • Tone and level for streaming, without crushing the vocal or the low end.
  • Matching across an EP or album so the songs sit in one world.
  • A revision if the first master is too loud, too dark, or not the record you heard in the room.
  • Files for release: the master, and an alternate if the platform asks for one.
